About me..

My name is María Helgadóttir and I am a self tought painter born (1970) and raised in Reykjavík Iceland.

In Iceland we have the beautiful nature to get inspired from and as long as I can remember I’ve had a pencil in my hand drawing everything that came into my mind. Then I had my children and life happened… then much later I discovered paint and haven’t looked back since.

My main subjects these days are portraits and landscape. I love blending the fantastical with the real, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the female body and the dystopian darkness from my imagination.
